Katya Marchenko(2001) is an artist and educator based in Amsterdam. She graduated from the Audio Visual department (VAV) at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam with a BA in Art and Design in the year of 2024.
In her practice, Katya refers to her experience of volunteering and art teaching in order to bring elements of community and belonging to a larger conversation surrounding mortality, such as aging or terminal illness. With a research based perspective, she explores how art can influence or change the way communities and society at large engage with stigmatized topics. With a focus on creating a sense of belonging and comradery, she engages various demographics in her work in order to bridge the space between art, science and social work.
